College Prep Helps with Transitioning Students
College Prep is designed to provide real-world college experience to high school seniors who are living with a disability, are interested in furthering their education, and are involved in Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, College Prep was cancelled for 2020.
A partnership between Auburn University Montgomery (AUM), Easterseals Central Alabama, and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, the program covers topics such as study skills, writing college papers, assistive technology, the accommodation process, time management and more. For three days, students attend this class on the campus of AUM and have an opportunity to ask questions and get acclimated to college life and expectations.
Twenty students participated in 2019 and have plans to go to area two and four-year colleges! Having gone through College Prep, they will be ready!
