Montgomery City Council Donates to the Care Project

Easterseals Central Alabama was honored by a visit in late December from City Councilman Andrew Szymanski who awarded funds to support Easterseals Central Alabama’s Care Project, a durable medical equipment loan program.

The Care Project assists nearly 600 individuals a year with needed no-cost medical equipment and/or supplies. The Care Project receives donated equipment and supplies, and then makes them available to individuals in our community who have a need.

Living with a disability or other special circumstances can depend on the availability of highly specialized equipment – usually costly equipment. The CARE Project helps these people of all ages. Examples of such equipment are manual and power wheelchairs for adults and children, bedside commodes and shower chairs, hospital beds, wheelchair lifts for vehicles, wheelchair ramps, geriatric and seat lift chairs, breathing equipment, canes, crutches, walkers and so much more.

“We are grateful for the support provided by Councilman Szymanski. This will go a long way to helping those with disabilities receive equipment to help them access activities of daily living,” says Easterseals Central Alabama Executive Director Debbie Lynn.

The Care Project is located at 2161 Normandie Drive in Montgomery (behind Baptist Medical Center South) and is open Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; 334-387-3261.
