Learning Disabilities

The goal of this program is to ease the transition from high school to college for students with learning disabilities and their families. Services are also offered to adults of any age who have learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, and other cognitive disabilities. What does the Learning Disabilities program offer? Assistance with securing educational accommodations that will help enhance academic success and completion of required coursework. Students will explore their learning style and identify academic accommodations and strategies that will help them succeed in college. To further aid in the student’s success in college, students and families participate in a family conference to discuss the results of the evaluation.

A summer College Prep program gives students a taste of college life and helps them prepare for success in college by learning to advocate for themselves, take good notes, use a variety of test-taking strategies, improve their reading, writing, and math skills and manage their time well.

The Learning Disabilities Program is a referral-only program. Referrals can be made through the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS). Please contact your ADRS counselor to learn more!
