What do I do if I suspect my child may have autism? If you suspect your child may be showing signs of autism, schedule an appointment with your pediatrician. If your pediatrician suspects the same, have him/her refer you to Easterseals for our ASD Diagnostic Clinic. We have a multi-disciplinary team, ADOS testing, little-to-no wait time, and feedback within a reasonable time. How do I get involved in your CNA classes? The CNA classes at easterseals are offered at various times throughout the year and fill up quickly. The cost is $1,425 and includes everything needed to complete training and the fee for the exam. Financial assistance may be available through your local Career Center. How do I get my child in for speech and/or occupational therapy? We have a talented team of nationally certified speech pathologists and skilled pediatric occupational therapists here at easterseals that work with a variety of speech and occupational challenges. A doctor’s referral will be needed, and most insurance accepted. To schedule your appointment, call 334.387.3281!
Can you get me a job? This is a question we hear most often. If you are a person living with a disability, easterseals can provide the support you may need to help you reach your employment goals. With testing, training, workshops, one-on-one individualized support, information on current job openings, and post-employment support, easterseals’ employment programs are here to help. You must be referred through your local Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services. Contact your local office to learn more.
I cannot afford my needed medical equipment. Can you help? Yes! Our CARE Project offers a variety of free medical equipment to meet the needs of individuals in the community. From wheelchairs, walkers, and canes, to hospital beds, shower chairs, and bedside commodes-if we have it, we will share it! Prescriptions may be needed for some items. Do you accept donations of used medical equipment? Yes! Our CARE Project accepts donations of ALL medical equipment in any condition. All items are cleaned, sanitized, repaired (or used for parts), and donated to an individual in the community in need. Donations can be dropped off at our office, in the main lobby, at 2185 Normandie Drive, Montgomery, behind Baptist South Hospital. Drop off times are M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Do you need volunteers? On occasion. Our CARE Project frequently needs individuals to assist with office management tasks, and groups to help with organization and cleaning of medical supplies for donation. Our events department occasionally needs volunteers to assist with annual fundraisers. Call 334.288.0240 to learn more.
